CAD Design Technician
About the Role: CAD Design Technician
The role of the CAD Design Technician will involve working under the guidance of the Drawing Office Manager or Project Leader to issue singular machines, or ones which are part of a larger factory line installation. The machines may be standard ones which are configured to the clients’ requirements, or bespoke machines designed from the ground up. In addition to machinery the CAD Design Technician will also be involved with the design of structural supports and access gantry around factory lines.
Responsibilities of the CAD Design Technician:
- Produce mechanical component drawings
- Produce mechanical assembly drawings
- Produce structural steelwork drawings
- Produce 3D models
- Produce BOMs
- Liaise with other departments, sales, production, site installation etc to resolve issues.
- Attend site when required to assist with site surveying
Experience Required for the CAD Design Technician:
- Minimum of a HNC or above in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- 3D CAD, Autodesk Inventor is preferred but other similar 3D CAD packages will be considered e.g. SolidWorks, Solid Edge etc.
- Mechanical Engineering Knowledge
- Structural Engineering Knowledge
- Knowledge of Manufacturing processes
- Microsoft Office
Experience in the below areas would be advantageous:
- Knowledge of PDM software preferably Autodesk Vault
- 2D AutoCAD
- Hydraulics and Pneumatics System Design
- Machinery Design
- Material and Mechanical Handling
- Fluid System Design e.g. flumes, piping and specifying pumps
- Civil Engineering
- FEA
- Hand Calculations
- Site Surveying
- iLogic Programming
- Knowledge of iParts and iAssemblies
